Our minimum order is 10,000 pieces per design. Custom packaging carries fixed set-up costs, such as cutting dies, print plates and machine set-up, and those costs are shared across every piece in the run. The bigger the run, the smaller each piece's share, which is why the price per piece keeps falling as quantities grow.

We would rather explain our minimum plainly than have you find out halfway through a quote. Here is how it works, and why it is set where it is.
A design is one combination of size, structure and print. If you order the same mailer in two sizes, that is two designs. If you order one size with three different prints for three product lines, that is three designs. Each design needs its own set-up, so each one starts at 10,000 pieces. A seasonal or limited-edition print counts as its own design too.
Before the first good box comes off the line, several things have to be made or done once for your job alone:
Those costs are roughly the same whether the run is 2,000 pieces or 50,000.
The price of each piece has two parts: its share of the set-up, and the material and print that go into that piece. Here is an illustration with made-up units, not a quote, to show the shape of it. Suppose set-up costs 1,000 units and each piece uses 0.20 units of material and print.
| Run size | Set-up share per piece | Material and print | Price per piece |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2,000 | 0.50 | 0.20 | 0.70 |
| 10,000 | 0.10 | 0.20 | 0.30 |
| 50,000 | 0.02 | 0.20 | 0.22 |
The material cost barely moves, but the set-up share shrinks fast. That is the whole reason a custom box can be good value at volume and poor value in small numbers. Real figures depend on the format, the board, the print and the finish, and your written quote states them.
Then we are not the right supplier for it yet, and we would rather say so now than waste your time. A short-run or digital packaging printer will usually serve a smaller order better and faster. When a design grows past 10,000 pieces, the same brief works for us. You can check your fit in a few seconds with the quick check on our packages page.
What is EasyPak's minimum order?
10,000 pieces per design. The same minimum applies to every package and every custom quotation, and the price per piece improves as quantities grow.
Does a different print count as a new design?
Yes. Each combination of size, structure and print needs its own set-up, so each one is a separate design with its own 10,000-piece minimum.
Why is the price per piece lower on bigger runs?
Set-up costs such as cutting dies, print plates and machine set-up are roughly fixed. Spread over more pieces, each piece carries a smaller share, while the material cost per piece stays about the same.
Do you publish prices?
No. Board, print, finish and quantity move the price more than anything else, so every order is quoted to its specification, in writing, within 48 hours of receiving your full specifications.
Tell us about your product and we'll recommend the right solution, with a clear, no-obligation quote. Once we have your full specifications, you get a written quote within 48 hours.
